Carlos Thomas de la Cerda

Born in 1985 Tapachula, Chiapas

  • A self-taught artist, he began his career in 2005, based on his aluminum wire technique. Humanism, ecological culture, and ethnicism are some of the aspects that can be found in his work, characterized by sentiment and the ethereal.

With only a few years dedicated to sculpture, he has mounted solo exhibitions at the Jaime Sabines Cultural Center and EXPOTEC (ITESM), promoting the state of Chiapas. He has also exhibited his works at the Mexican Embassy in Guatemala and the Miraflores Museum. He participated in a program on Channel 13 (Ventaneando) at the Cruise Ship Terminal in Puerto Chiapas and in Unión Juárez, as well as a list of other solo exhibitions that today place him as the most prominent sculptor from Chiapas.

Mayan culture, human feelings, beauty, and the history of Chiapas help shape the works of Carlos Thomas de la Cerda.
