Antonio Guerrero

Paseo al Desnudo

1.70 x 2.08 m

Oil on canvas

$27,000 USD

There are pieces that dictate the pulse of a room. This work is a fascinating study of contrast and serenity.

Dominated by a deep, hypnotic blue, the terracotta-toned figure seems to emanate its own light, reminding us of the warmth of living clay in a dreamlike setting.

A symbolic journey is emphasized by the wheels, designed as spirals of energy rather than conventional spokes, connecting movement to the rhythm of the cosmos.

The stylized flowers and vertical lines create an almost musical atmosphere, framed by a vibrant border that captures the eye and holds it captive.

A blend of technical ingenuity and profound emotional charge, making it a centerpiece for any private collection.

Antonio Guerrero

Born in Matanzas, Cuba. Lives and works in Miami.

Antonio Guerrero is a contemporary Cuban-American artist. He was born in Cuba under the Castro regime. He grew up in a home where artistic expression was valued and encouraged. At 18, he was drafted into the army and sent to Africa to fight in the Ethiopian Civil War. There, he was inspired by the people and scenes of the region, developing an interest in modern expressionism.

Upon returning to Cuba, he resumed his artistic work. Seeking to improve his living conditions, Antonio boarded a raft that he, along with his cousin and a friend, had secretly designed and built. After drifting for five days at sea, they were rescued and taken to the United States.

This experience was captured in his work "Balseros del 92" (Rafters of '92), which was donated to the José Martí Foundation to raise funds for student scholarships. In 1996, Guerrero's work was exhibited in Washington, D.C., as part of the "Cubans in Exile" exhibition.

In its 150th anniversary celebration, Bacardi chose Guerrero and three other artists to express the feeling of liberation and openness of the Cuban spirit.

Guerrero sees the world as a cosmic stage for human activity. “I am in the system like a programmer writing code with my sketchbook and brushes… to create and program the unconscious… I believe we are immersed in a powerful and beautiful mystery. The fact of our existence is a great enigma to me.”
